Until the turn of the millennium Folkestone Harbour Arm was a key transport hub linking Folkestone and mainland Europe. Following its re-opening to the public in 2014 it has been re-imagined as a public pier, quickly becoming established as a favourite food, drink and entertainment destination. The former railway station and ferry terminal have been comprehensively and imaginatively restored to reflect the heritage of the site, including its role as an embarkation point for millions of soldiers in WW1.

The Harbour Arm offers unrivalled views of the fishing harbour and the wider coastline, including the famous White Cliffs, and opportunities to take in the invigorating sea air. Local businesses have become well established along the pier offering choices from champagne to gourmet coffee, Greek mezze to hand-stretched sourdough pizzas. Regular live music features bands and musicians from Kent and there are seasonal special events at intervals throughout the year.
