A vast 13th-century tower dominates this Medieval church located in a peaceful part of the Kent Downs. St Peter's has very close connections with the Knights Hospitallers whose Commandery still stands across the fields.
Inside, you can discover a 14th century porch with two Medieval 'Mass Dials' (sundials) to help tell the congregation the service times, a 14th century font that was rescued from a garden in 1914 and two 20th century stained glass windows. The west window displays a scene of birds, flowers and woodland animals while the South window depicts The Crucifixion.
This church has been enlarged and restored over the centuries. There are clear Victorian influences that can be seen in the North aisle. However, despite many changes over centuries this church still retains many original traces of its Medieval past.
